Comments: Valkyrie Profile, released at the end of August, was completely overshadowed by Chrono Cross. Since Chrono Cross has been anticipated since the release of Chrono Trigger, nothing could compete with it. Valkyrie Profile is a wonderful game; better than Chrono Cross, if you ask me.

Gameplay: 10; Though the dungeons and towns are side-scollers, the gameplay is still very smooth. The battle system is one of the best I've ever seen in an RPG, putting even Chrono Cross's system to shame.

Graphics: 9; The character designs are fantastic, and even though the characters are only in 2D, they still look very good. The backgrounds are 3D, and very well done, too. Everything has a dark, gloomy feeling too it, and this can wear on you after a while.

Sound: 9; The sound effects are decent, and some of the voice acting is very, very good (Arngrim, Valkyrie, etc.). Unfortunately, some of the voice acting (Fuyuki comes to mind) is disgraceful.

Music: 8; The music is decent. Not much else to say about it.

Replay Value: 10; Since this game has multiple endings (very different, I might add), it's just made to be replayed.

Final Score: 9.5; The gameplay is very immersive and entertaining, and the graphics are great, too. The music is tolerable, and some of the voice acting is good. Besides that, it's an RPG that's made for replay. What more could you ask for?
